From the age of 6 months I’ve lived within farming and always been around animals, my granddad who was a big influence, he loved and cared for 100’s of animals. I used to follow him around the farm looking after the cows, sheep, and so on, to the point of lying in the cow shed with poorly cows. I had also been very naughty when it was shooting season, letting the pheasants out before hand so at least they had a fighting chance to survive.
I’ve had so many animals over the years its hard to say just how man, I volunteered for the RSPCA as a young adult, and ended up taking home quite a few of them.
Getting married to Steven who shares the passion for animals has helped us to continue taking in animals, we moved to our current location just six months ago, where we could expand the types of animals housed.
I’ve hand reared lots of animals over the years from wood pigeons to pigs and lambs, pigs being the hardest, setting alarms every two hours for feeds night and day for the first week of their lives. But so worth the effort.
I have worked in many different jobs over the years, but never really settled just doing a job, and for some reason or other always found myself back with the animals full time. I feel its destiny for us to help out as much as we can, with the resources available.
We find we get so much out of this lifestyle, yes its hard work, but to see them all living their life’s out happy makes it all worth while.
Currently we have onsite dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep, pigs, geese, ducks, chickens, pheasants, doves, pigeons and quail.
But if something comes up that we do not have room for I can mostly find them a forever happy home.
